Configuring node connection counts

You can set nodes, and groups, to show a count of connected nodes or connected edges. The count indicates the amount of related records that exist beyond what is already on the graph. To improve performance, you can turn off the connection counts.

Node counts

Displays the number of directly connected nodes that are reachable through the currently selected relations but are not yet on the graph. Select this when you want to understand how many distinct entities are associated with a node.

Edge counts

Displays the number of edges (relations) that connect it to other records through the selected relations, including edges to nodes that are already on the graph. This is the default mode. Select this when you want to measure the volume of connections rather than the number of distinct related entities.

Off

No connection count badges are shown on nodes or groups. Select this to improve graph performance.

Selecting the connection count

  1. Open the Graph Browser.

  2. In the toolbar, in the View section, click Options.

  3. Click Connection counts.

  4. Select one of the three modes: Node counts, Edge counts, or Off.

Connection count scripting API

The connection count mode can be read and set programmatically via the Graph Browser scripting API:

// Set to edge counts mode
await graph.setNodeCountMode('connectedEdges');

// Set to node counts mode
await graph.setNodeCountMode('connectedNodes');

// Disable counts
await graph.setNodeCountMode('off');

Valid values are 'connectedEdges', 'connectedNodes', and 'off'. The function returns the mode that is now active.
