Adding nodes to a graph
Records are visualized as nodes on a graph. Newly created graphs are empty.
You can add nodes to an open graph in the following ways.
Adding nodes from a dashboard
You can add nodes from dashboards by using the toolbar or the Dashboard sidebar.
Adding related nodes
You can add nodes that are related to nodes on the graph. To do this:
-
Select a node on the graph browser.
-
From the toolbar, click Add nodes → Expand by relation.
-
In the Expand by relation window, select the related nodes that you want to add.
For information about controlling how nodes are added by relation, see Controlling graph relations.
|
Records belonging to a record-as-relation middle entity type are added as an edge along with nodes of source and target entity types. All the relations of the record-as-relation must be hidden for this to work. |
Adding nodes by entity
You can add nodes by entity type from one or more selected nodes. To do this:
-
Select one or more nodes on the graph.
-
From the toolbar, click Add nodes → Add by entity.
-
In the Add by entity window, select the entity types you want to add from the card grid.
Entity types with no addable nodes are listed in Entities with no addable nodes.
-
Optional: Expand the relations panel and select the relations you want to use for the selected entities.
By default, the relations selection is inherited from the graph browser side panel. You can change this behavior in the graph browser configuration with the Preserve Relations selection when adding by entity option. See General settings.
